We are a family owned business, located in downtown Leavenworth Kansas. The store is owned by Kim & John Kincaid; we are assisted by a skilled staff of 4, which includes our webmaster Richard Pratt.

Collector Bookstore specializes in reference books on antiques and collectibles. We like to say that topic selection at most bookstores is 10 miles wide, but only an inch deep. Some 10,000 square foot bookstore's we've visited devote as little as 2 bookcases – about 8 shelves – to collectors. Choosing to specialize in reference books allows us to carry nearly every good book presently in print on a given topic. None of our customers seem particularly bothered that we don't carry the latest Harry Potter book, although we do carry a reference book on Harry Potter collectibles!

We are sometimes asked why we went into the business of selling price guides and reference books. Kim and I are both (happily) bookish people by nature. Kim's hobby is genealogy – researching dead relatives. My hobby - some call it an addiction - is attending local auctions (I "collect" auctioneers; I have the name, address and phone number of every known auctioneer in Kansas, as well as many in Missouri). Both of us love antiques! When we travel, we browse the antique malls, flea markets and thrift stores, looking for forgotten treasures. When we're at home, I'm often NOT at home, especially if there is a good estate auction nearby!
